OLLA is a direct injection box featuring PASSIVE, ACTIVE & SPEAKER modes of operation. This hybrid approach makes OLLA an extremely flexible and universal tool for any scenario. Within a single product OLLA can handle passive/active/piezo pick-ups - to balanced pro line level - all the way up to power amp outputs. Enclosed within an indestructible stainless steel chassis, OLLA is perfect for stage or studio.
OLLA's zero compromise approach captures the utmost in tonality and musical expression. Sources are rendered with deep, sizable dimension and a focus which sits easily in a mix. At the heart of OLLA is a beefy Jensen Transformer, custom built for Pueblo Audio and specified for ultra-low distortion, massive headroom and laser-flat response. Complimenting this exceptional passive stage is a selectable active stage which presents further solutions in timbre & loading. Need to interface directly from an amp for recording or re-amping? OPERATION
Along with outstanding sonics, Pueblo Audio strives to make products that are easy to operate. While many DI boxes are laden with tiny switches and ambiguous features, OLLA is designed with a single rotary control. This elegant approach allows users to dial in an appropriate setting quickly, without fuss or confusion. Even users who may be unfamiliar with DI parameters need only turn the knob until they land on the best sounding position. Simplicity, itself! Mode switch operation explained below...
PASSIVE MODE - GND
This traditional DI configuration offers pure Transformer action. The Input jack automatically adapts to Balanced or UnBalanced source signals. Suggested for Bass & Guitars with Active pick-ups, Synths, DJ-rigs, Computer Interfaces, A/V & Pro Line-Level sources. Re-Amping is also covered in this mode with the use of a simple adapter cable (click for diagram) |
ACTIVE MODE - 2MΩ
Class-A, discrete transistor stage engages a solid 2meg input load. Active circuit is energized with phantom power; no wall-warts or dying batteries to deal with. On-board regulation maintains performance & headroom at all times. LED indicates phantom is received via the XLR. Suggested for Bass & Guitar with Passive pick-ups, Fender Rhoads, pedal boards, etc.. |
SPEAKER MODE - GND
In this mode OLLA is intended to go between a head amplifier and its speaker cabinet. In this way an amp's "speaker level" output can be recorded directly, without needing to mic the cab. *Caution: Be sure OLLA is already in SPEAKER mode before connecting amp. Always have a proper speaker load connected via the THRU jack to prevent potential amplifier damage. |
SPEAKER MODE - LIFT
Same as above previous with the XLR's pin-1 "ground lifted". This can help break up hum and buzz caused by ground loops. Experiment with the grounded and lifted positions for lowest noise. *Caution: Be sure OLLA is already in SPEAKER mode before connecting amp. Always have a proper speaker load connected via the THRU jack to prevent potential amplifier damage. |

An olla (pronounced oi-ya) is an unglazed pot traditionally used for irrigation in the arid climate of the American Southwest. They are buried next to crops forming a miniature reservoir. Water is protected from evaporation while slowly time-released through the porous walls, continuously injecting moisture directly to the roots. Thus ollas reduce labor and solve multiple agricultural problems simultaneously; all with a sophisticated yet minimalist design. We felt these admirable traits were akin to our new DI, so we adopted the name - OLLA.
